Whisky Type: Single Malt
Barrels used in the Aging: Olorosso Sherry Cask Finish.
Bottle Size: 700ml
One of the rarer bottles to come out of the Speyside/Highland region is this Distillers Edition 2016 from the Dalwhinnie Distillery. It’s an oloroso sherry-cask finished single malt that is produced in much smaller numbers, that was distilled in 2000 and bottles in 2016. It has a reliably fruity palate with hints of raspberry and apples, coupled with a touch of wheaty smoke. The smokey notes run through to its finish, where touches of orange and cinnamon come to the fore, perfect to get you tipsy during those colder winter months.
Flavour Profile: Nose
An excellent nose with fresh sherry beautifully sitting with buttery baked apples & hints of straw, cereal, & toasted pastry goodness.
Flavour Profile: Palate
Sweet with hints of raisin, cider & brandy. A decadent spiciness is followed by honey & a whiff of smoke.
Flavour Profile: Finish
Medium-long. Lots of oak & a touch of citrus. Hints of sweet spices & bread but a dry vanilla dominates.
