This special edition bottle from the island distillery of Caol Ila is perfect for those idyllic late evening get-togethers in summer. Created as an antithesis to the peatier style whiskies for which Islay is well-known, it is ideal for those who like a more subtle rounded taste. To be enjoyed with a small touch of spring water to add a touch of balance, or without for a longer, spicy finish.
Flavour Profile: Nose
Despite its strength the nose is relaxed. It exhibits waves of deep fruity sharpness pear drop sweetness & biscuity cereals set against a background of sea spray.
Flavour Profile: Palate
At turns cool and comforting, there is a surprisingly mild mouthfeel at first, developing from a minty fruit gum experience through to an intense freezing heat crammed with honey, pine resin, salt and lemon. Mid palate however, there's a refreshing peach note, exquisitely oily yet drying.
Flavour Profile: Finish
Boisterous, large and looming, there is a spice to this finish with a superbly coating, dark chocolate bitterness and delayed pungency.
