Cladach means coast in Gaelic, and is also the name of this blend from Diageo, made from several whiskies produced across some of Scotland’s most renowned coastline distilleries. It is a wonderful mix of malts from famed producers such as Caol Ila, Clynelish, Lagavulin, Oban, Inchgower and Talisker. There is a lot of wood smoke within the palate alongside hints of berries and toffee. The overall finish is dry and chocolatey, with notes of smoke that run through right until the end. It’s an exceptional bottle, the likes of which we may not see again for some time.
Flavour Profile: Nose
Affable and approachable, the presentation here is rich and warm with a maritime persona. Aromas of salt and warm sand pave the way for deeper notes of honey and fruit. The palate moulds into fresher, liberating tastes of flora and spearmint.
Flavour Profile: Palate
Instantly pleasing, the palate matches the nose. Sweet at the start, then glimpses of salty sea breeze, a hint of smoke and a finish which caramel notes and refreshing mint.
Flavour Profile: Finish
Boldly pungent, warm and spicy with soft tendrils of smoke. A touch of orange zest and sea salt leads to a warm hug of vanilla.
