If you prefer a mix of subtlety and strength in your tumbler, then you could do a hell of a lot worse than this Mannachmore 25-Year-Old. The Elgin distillery has been producing standout single malts close to Scotland’s north-east coast, since 1971, making them one of the youngest producers within the Scottish Isles. This particular offering is aged in fresh European and American Oak casks before being left to mature in old bourbon barrels to offer a slightly peppery, red rope liquorice palate, with a finish that leans towards sweet oak and nougat.
Flavour Profile: Nose
Far gentler than first expected from its deep amber tone, cherry arrives first evolving into bourbon-soaked cherries, creamy vanilla & peppered forest fruit.
Flavour Profile: Palate
Smooth & coating, pepper on the palate with gentle aniseed tones. Turkish delight is revealed set against a rising oaky dryness.
Flavour Profile: Finish
Hints of nougat & clove weave their way through this medium length finish. An aftertaste of eucalyptus & dried fruit are a welcome delight.
