Whisky Type: Single Malt
Age: 32 Year Old
Barrels used in the Aging: Matured in refill European oak butts.
Bottle Size: 700ml
This younger sibling to Port Ellen’s more recognised bottle is in no way inferior. Most of this release from 2015 has been snapped up by private collectors, but there are close to 3000 bottles around for public purchase today. This single malt from Isle of Islay has a wonderfully diverse palate, with hints of caramel, coconut and honey, with a finish an oakey, peaty finish. If you’re looking for rarity, complexity and quality of the highest standard, then Port Ellen ticks all the boxes.
Flavour Profile: Nose
Creamy in texture with a medley of caramel, there is a hint of smoke on the nose with the smallest trace of mint.
Flavour Profile: Palate
Flavours expand the palate on each sip. A sprinkle of coconut greets, ahead of intense caramels & rich dates, treacle & honey.
Flavour Profile: Finish
This is a dry, elemental finish, encompassed by earthy oak & a slightly cooling capacity.
